Australia's Labor opposition concedes defeat after election

Australia's Labor opposition leader Bill Shorten conceded defeat in national elections Sunday eight days after voters went to the polls, allowing the ruling conservatives to form a new government.
"It is clear that Mr (Malcolm) Turnbull and his coalition will form a government," Shorten told reporters in Melbourne, adding that he called the prime minister on Sunday to congratulate him.
