Austrian vice chancellor to replace Faymann on interim basis

Austrian Deputy Chancellor Reinhold Mitterlehner will replace Chancellor Werner Faymann on an interim basis following the latter's resignation, a spokeswoman for the presidency told the Austria Press Agency on Monday.
Faymann was due to formally notify President Heinz Fischer of his resignation later Monday. Mitterlehner is from the centre-right People's Party (OeVP), coalition partner to Faymann's Social Democrats (SPOe).
