Explosions and gunfire echoed near the Indian consulate in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, an area that is also home to other foreign diplomatic missions, an AFP reporter said.
No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack and it was not immediately known if there were any casualties.
