Shaker Aamer, the last British resident in Guantanamo Bay, will not be detained when he returns home on Friday after his release from the US military prison in Cuba, the government said.
"As soon as he is returned to the UK he is no longer in detention. He is free to be reunited with his family," Prime Minister David Cameron's official spokeswoman said.
