Western Balkan countries are facing "huge challenges" handling tens of thousands of migrants trying to get to the EU, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Thursday.
"Western Balkan transit countries are facing huge challenges," Merkel said at a summit with leaders from the region in Vienna. "It is our responsibility to help them."
