Talks ongoing with French cop killer, unclear if hostages held

Negotiations are under way with a man who is holed up in a house in the Paris suburbs after stabbing a police officer to death, the French interior ministry said late Monday.
Ministry spokesman Pierre-Henry Brandet told AFP "an evaluation" was ongoing "to confirm if the individual has hostages with him".
Police sources said the man, who was in the policeman's house in Magnanville, northwest of the French capital, had taken the officer's wife and son hostage.
