The Republican Party opened its national convention Monday, kicking off a four-day political jamboree that will anoint billionaire Donald Trump as the Republican presidential nominee.
"This convention will come to order," Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus told some 2,000 delegates as he gaveled open a business session.
He then swiftly called for a moment of silence to recognize the officers recently killed in attacks on police in Dallas, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
