Britain's finance minister Philip Hammond Friday played down a "flash crash" which saw sterling plunge more than six percent against the dollar in under 10 minutes, citing "technical factors". "Some of what happened overnight was driven by technical factors, as the Bank of England governor has explained this morning," he told the BBC from the US. "Markets will go up and down -- markets respond to noises." |
