Downton Abbey delighted viewers Thursday by releasing the official Season 5 cast photo along with a series of still images from the upcoming season, but the usually on-point team made a historical error in one of the photos.
In a picture that has gone viral Lord Grantham (Hugh Bonneville) stands next to his daughter Lady Edith Crawley (Laura Carmichael) in front of a fireplace, and on top of it lies a modern water bottle.
British photographer Darren Bell, like many others before him, shared the press photo on Twitter along with the hashtag, #PhotoFail.
Oh dear. Someone left a waterbottle in this press photo from @DowntonAbbey #PhotoFail pic.twitter.com/EdZxc8Xlj7— Darren Bell (@darren_bell) August 14, 2014
The photo has since been removed from PBS's website and the show's Facebook account. ABC News says the network has yet to comment on their inquiry about the mistake.
Downton's fifth season will begin airing in the U.K. in September. The show will run from January 4 to March 5, 2015 in the United States.
