The EU fully supports Morocco's planned green economy and especially Phase 2 of the Ouarzazate solar power station, European Energy Commission spokesperson Marlene Holzner told Moroccan press agency MAP today. Phase 1 of the project was funded in part by the Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP), as well as with loans from the European Investment Bank and several EU member states. The 2.3 billion euro Ouarzazate solar power station, among the biggest in the world, will generate 500 MW and cover more than 3,000 hectares. Phase 1 activation is scheduled for the beginning of 2014. From: ANSAMED
