A plot to sabotage and destroy heavy water transfer tanks was discovered and thwarted, Assistant Director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and Crisis Management Director Asghar Zarean said on Wednesday.
"We were able since the last two weeks to discover new plans to destroy the heavy water tanks thanks to the vigilance of supervisors," Zarean told Iran's Mehr News Agency.
"Enemies should be aware that they cannot carry out any act of sabotage against Iran's nuclear activities," Zarean said, adding "a workshop to address acts of industrial sabotage which was launched earlier will continue to monitor all activities vigorously." The Iranian official noted that Iran is able to monitor and thwart any act of sabotage in the area of hardware and software too.
For his part, the AEOI President Ali Akbar Salehi said Iran's nuclear industry progressed and evolved largely through reliance on local capabilities and expertise.
