
President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj said on Wednesday that his country proposed Russia to consider a possibility of stretching a natural gas pipeline across the Mongolian territory.
“I have described the advantages of stretching a pipeline across the territory of Mongolia,” Elbegdorj said following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is currently on an official visit to Mongolia.
Russia’s major oil company Rosneft intends to expand its presence on the Mongolian market, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday.
Rosneft “meets most of the country’s oil product demand, supplies Genghis Khan International Airport in Ulan Bator and has major plans for expanding its presence on the Mongolian market,” Putin said.
Putin added that during negotiations the sides agreed to strengthen interaction in the air transport sphere. “The Protocol on co-operation in the sphere of civil aviation and Memorandum on the expansion of the air route network of Russia’s Aeroflot carrier and Mongolia Airlines will contribute to this,” he said.
Mongolia proposed Russia to increase annual bilateral trade to $10 billion by 2020 and therefore to introduce a duty free regime for Mongolian export products for the period of 20 years in order to achieve this task, President of Mongolia Tsakhia Elbegdorj said on Wednesday.
“I have proposed to start talks on a deal to relieve Mongolian products supplied to Russia of taxes and duties for the period of 20 years,” Elbegdorj said following his talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who is currently on an official visit to Mongolia.
The Mongolian president said he also discussed with Putin an issue concerning bilateral trade payments in national currencies adding that the bilateral trade can be also boosted if Russia would offer loans in rubles to Mongolian companies exporting products to Russia.
Ulan Bator Railway
Russia and Mongolia are discussing a possibility of signing an agreement on transit with China shortly, Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorzh said on Wednesday.
he said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We agreed to end the work on modernization of the Ulan Bator Railway by 2020. We also discussed the signing of an agreement on transit between Mongolia, Russia and China,” he said after talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trade and cooperation
Representatives of Russia and Mongolia have signed fifteen documents on cooperation in the framework of a meeting of Mongolian President Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj with visiting Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The documents cover cooperation in the establishment of a zone under environmental protection (transborder nature reserve), Russia's military-technical assistance to Mongolia on a free of charge basis, ensuring mutual visits of citizens and re-admission of citizens, that includes a protocol on the order of re-admission, cooperation between justice ministries, development of trade and economic relations, cooperation between transport ministries of Russia and Mongolia, including a protocol of intent, cooperation between the federal treasuries of Russia and Mongolia.
Representatives of the two countries have signed a Memorandum on mutual understanding between the Federal Migration Service of Russia and the Immigration Service of Mongolia, an agreement between the Russian company Rosneft and the Ministry of Science and Education of Mongolia on the education of Mongolian citizens at institutes - partners of the "Rosneft" company, an agreement between the Russian Railways company and the Mongolian transport ministry on partnership and modernization and development of the Ulan-Bator railroad, a Memorandum on understanding between the Aeroflot airlines and the Mongolian airlines MIAT.
Russian Minister of Natural Resources Sergei Donskoi and Mongolian Minister of Environment Sanjaasuren Oyun signed an intergovernmental agreement on measures of protection from forest fires.
