Russia and Ukraine inked a deal to supply the latter with electricity, Russia's news agency (TASS) reported on Tuesday.
"The Russian Energy Ministry reports that Inter RAO and Ukrinterenergo companies have concluded an agreement for exporting electric energy from the Unified Energy System of Russia to the unified energy system of Ukraine," TASS said.
Ukrinterenergo had also signed a second deal with Inter RAO's sister company (Center for Making Settlements) to ensure reliable and uninterrupted energy supplies to Crimea, which was annexed to Russia in March, it added.
Russian officials said that Moscow decided to supply Ukraine with energy according to applicable prices in Russia to help Ukrainians overcome the economic problems.
