Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz on Tuesday stated that energy talks with Israel could cast shadow on the leading motives of Israel's apology. Yildiz delivered a speech at the opening of the Diplomacy of Energy titled panel, organized by the Institute of Strategic Thinking in Ankara. The reason for Israel's apology was not the discovery of natural gas in Israel and hence energy projects but the results may yield collaborative energy projects, Yildiz said. Stating that they would follow the normalization of the relations to discuss what could be done in terms of energy projects, Yildiz said, "we will follow up whether the promises Israel made will be fulfilled. However, energy talks with Israel could cast shadow on the leading motives of Israel's apology, therefore we are on the watch." Upon being asked of Iran, Yildiz stated that it was difficult to sustain sanctions on Iran.
