Turkey's installed power up

The installed power of electricity generation in Turkey has surged by 12 percent in 2014 compared to the same period last year, the country's energy minister announced Friday.According to a written statement by Taner Yildiz, the number of power plants has also increased by 16 percent, from 796 to 932.In March 2013, the installed power was 57,523 mWh, it increased to 64,611 mWh this year, said the statement.He added, "Seven new plants with 101,5 mWh capacity were all renewable sources."Turkey only meets 27 percent of its energy need from its own sources, renewables and coal included. By 2023, Turkey aims to meet 30 percent of its need from renewable sources alone.
