
Turkish Minister of Energy Taner Yildiz said on Monday that Turkey would reacquire $13 billion income from the privatization of electricity power plants. Speaking at the privatization ceremony of Kangal thermal power plant, and said that foreign-resource dependency of Turkey in energy was about 70%, and some countries, which were completely depended on foreign-resource in energy, have decreased the foreign-source dependency with correct strategies. Yildiz drew attention to the Turkey's foreign-resource dependency in energy and offered the solution on this issue, saying, "One of each five energy unit Turkey is supplied from coal. We want to change the rate to one third." Yildiz said that 7 billion tons of coal were annually consumed in the world, Turkey's total reserve of coal was 14 billion tons, and China consumed annually 3.5 billion tons of coal. Yildiz said that they would produce electricity in the thermal power plants with clean coal technologies, and sulfur rates will match with all kind of spectrum.
