Suhail bin Mohammed Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy, is participating in the third Vienna Energy Forum (VEF), which launched yesterday in the Austrian capital, and is set to run for three days. The event is being co-organized by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA). The Forum discusses the best means to overcome energy poverty, which is recognised as a major development obstacle that accelerate the de-carbonisation of energy systems. The Forum will present a new study made by the World Bank in collaboration with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as well as provide a comprehensive report on how to reach renewable energies. More than 1,500 participants are expected to attend, including heads of governments, ministers, energy experts, representatives of non-governments organisations, organisations of civil society, university professors and representatives from the private sector on an international scale.
