Heavy snow forced the closing of some expressways and a halt of a city's bus services in northern China Friday, officials said. Sections of 16 expressways were shut down in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Xinhua reported. All bus services in Tongliao City in the region were temporarily halted. The Public Security Department stopped coaches, trucks and vehicles loaded with chemicals and dangerous articles from traveling along all expressways in Jilin province because of the snow Sections of the Shenji Expressway, which connects Jilin to Liaoning province, were under temporary traffic control. Snowstorms this week affected about 300,000 people in northern China and killed at least one person, local government officials said.
