Vauxhall’s new Mokka SUV has been awarded five stars by the independent consumer organisation Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program). The Mokka joins other Vauxhall models including Ampera, Astra, Corsa, Insignia, Meriva and Zafira which all scored the top rating of five stars in the Euro NCAP program. ‘Vauxhall offers the highest possible safety standards to our customers, and the Mokka is no exception,’ said Duncan Aldred, Vauxhall’s Chairman and Managing Director. ‘Vauxhall is very proud to bring cutting-edge technologies to a wider segment of customers.’ Overall, the Mokka achieved impressive results in all five safety categories tested by Euro NCAP, scoring maximum points in the safety assist category, making it one of only a handful of cars on sale in Europe to be given such a strong test rating. Euro NCAP gave a positive rating to the Mokka’s electronic stability control, for its seatbelt reminder function and its speed limitation assistance, all standard features on the Mokka. In the adult occupant category, the Mokka achieved a 96 per cent score. This excellent result was helped by front, side head and side body airbags as well as double belt pre-tensioners with load limiters. Adjustable head restraints on the front seats help to provide protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear-end collision. The Mokka also features a collapsible pedal assembly for lower leg protection in a frontal impact. In child occupant safety, Euro NCAP noted: “The Mokka scored maximum points based on the readings from the 3-year-old child dummy in the dynamics test.” This first-class score in this category is the result of Vauxhall child safety seats that come standard with rear outer ISOFIX child seat mountings and fasteners for an additional top-tether belt. In the pedestrian safety category, the Mokka’s bumper scored maximum points. Euro NCAP highlighted its “good protection to pedestrians’ legs.” On the active safety side, which goes beyond Euro NCAP requirements, the Mokka has many safety assist features. The compact SUV offers an array of innovative technologies that help the driver to avoid collisions including following distance indicator, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition. The Mokka’s optional rear view camera and the adaptive forward lighting AFL+ raise safety standards even further. The Mokka is in showrooms now with prices starting from £15,995 on-the-road. The new compact SUV, like all Vauxhalls, is covered by the manufacturer’s ground-breaking Lifetime Warranty which provides warranty cover up to 100,000 miles. From Motorin News
