Apple could be launching an electric car as early as 2020.
That’s according to a Bloomberg report, citing “people with knowledge of the matter," which revealed that the company hopes to begin production of electric vehicles in five years.
The online rumor mill about the prospect of an Apple car has gone into overdrive following news that the company has hired auto engineers and experts from an electric car battery-maker. It's reported that Apple has hired 200 people to work on the project.
Tesla Motors Inc. and General Motors Co. are also targeting a 2017 release of ultra-efficient electric vehicles.
