If the recent Senna biopic got you all nostalgic for those exciting days of Formula 1, when names like Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost were making headlines, here’s your chance to now own a piece of that epic history. A helmet used by the legendary Ayrton Senna, as well as one of his racing suits, are up for auction in the Race Retro Sale taking place during the annual Silverstone Auction in the UK this month. The particular helmet is Senna's full-face Shoei warned during his world title-winning time at McLaren in 1991. It bears the signature of the late racing driver and is expected to sell for more than $66,000. It wears the colors of the Brazilian flag coupled with Nacional, Marlboro, Boss, and Honda branding, and is supported by a McLaren International authentication certificate having been purchased by the vendor directly from McLaren boss Ron Dennis. However, fans of the three-times F1 champ who miss out on the helmet won't be disappointed as a used race suit, also dating from the 1991 world championship winning season, is also going under the hammer. The suit, estimated at more than $31,000, has full branding from Nacional, Marlboro, Boss, TAG Heuer, Goodyear, Shell, Courtaulds, and Honda. It also has Senna's name embroidered on the belt along with the Brazilian flag. The auction will take place at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry in the UK, on February 25.
