
The Jordan Media Institute (JMI) board of directors on Saturday announced the appointment of Basim Tweissi as dean of the institute as of July 2013. Tweissi has a PhD in mass communication and journalism studies and is an associate professor in the department of media and strategic studies, according to a JMI statement. He was the director of the centre for studies, consultations and community development at Al Hussein Bin Talal University. Tweissi is an Al Ghad columnist and has six published books, the statement said. He succeeds Mohammad Momani, who was appointed as minister of state for media affairs and communications.
