Chairperson of the Egyptian Radio and TV Union (ERTU) Safaa Hegazy has called for intensifying efforts by the Arab media to counter terrorism, violence and extremism.
Addressing the fifth session of the executive office of Arab information ministers Monday, Hegazy said that part of the responsibilities of the media is to fight terrorism, noting that security solutions, although important, are not enough to terminate terrorism.
Today's meeting is important, coming at a critical stage in the history of the region and amid huge challenges, atop of which terrorism, she said.
Hegazy touched upon Egypt's efforts to upgrade the media system and establish a syndicate for media personnel.
She also talked about an Egyptian media charter to entrench media freedom.
