A unified bill on the press and media and a draft law banning imprisonment over publishing issues will be handed over to Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Monday morning, secretary general of the national committee on press and media legislation Diaa Rashwan said.
The draft law will be sent to the Cabinet to be submitted to the House of Representatives for ratification, Rashwan told MENA.
The national committee has held 11 sessions with government representatives in addition to seven more that took place during the former government of Ibrahim Mahlab, he said.
Rashwan said that Ismail had asserted to him on the phone that the bill will be reviewed during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
