"Reporters Without Borders (RSF) will endeavour to provide technical, financial and political assistance to Tunisia's journalists and media and especially those in inland cities'' said on Wednesday RSF Secretary-General Jean-François Julliard at the inauguration of a permanent office of the organisation in Tunis. He affirmed that the RSF office will co-operate with the associations and organisations in charge of defending freedom of expression in Tunisia to denounce any violation of journalists' rights. "I am pleased with this new era of freedom of expression in Tunisia but several measures remain to be made such as the reform of the law, the training of journalists, the implementation of actual media control authorities and the granting of permits to new media," he declared. Mr. Jean-François Julliard has been heading RSF for three years, after Mr. Robert Ménard who founded this NGO in 1985.
