Brazil's Globo TV is working on a new video-on-demand (VOD) portal that will stream its archived programming online. The move will enhance the current programming that the operator offers already. Adding in the library fare will offer a way to monetise older content that is otherwise simply sitting on a shelf. It's a strategy that has become increasingly central to studios as they look to tap online streamers like Netflix and Hulu for their older film and TV offerings. Offering a total package-- all content-- is also a TV Everywhere strategy that HBO GO is for instance successfully deploying. Unlike HBO GO however, the archive portal will have its own branding, Website and payment model--details of which are TBD. According to C21, the portal is due to launch this fall. Rapid TV News .
