Television personality Nick Cannon will host People magazine's first-ever Award show later this month, the publication announced Friday.
The two-hour special will spotlight the year in pop culture and will air on NBC in collaboration with Dick Clark Productions. 5 Seconds of Summer and Maroon 5 will perform at the event.
"Looking forward to an amazing night and hopefully this will launch a new category for PEOPLE to name me Sexiest Host Alive in 2015," Cannon said of his new gig.
The awards show will feature appearances from the likes of Ryan Guzman, Kate Upton, Jennifer Aniston, Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lopez.
Fans are encouraged to vote for the Best People Magazine cover of the Year by tweeting at the publication with the hashtag #PEOPLEMagazineAward.
The People Magazine Awards will air Dec. 18 at 9 p.m.
