The Irish rock band U2 has canceled its planned five-night stint on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon after lead singer Bono was injured during a bicycle-riding mishap in New York's Central Park.
"It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time -- we're one man down. Bono has injured his arm in a cycling spill in Central Park and requires some surgery to repair it," the band said in a message on its website Sunday. "We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding."
NBC has not yet announced who -- if anyone -- will replace the rockers on this week's episodes of Tonight.
The announcement caps an eventful week for Bono. He was in London Saturday for the recording of Band Aid 30's charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?" and last Wednesday a door fell off the plane mid-flight as he was flying from Dublin to Berlin. He landed safely, and he and his bandmates went on to perform at the Bambi Awards.
