Switzerland's national telco Swisscom will expand the HD line-up of its IPTV platform Swisscom TV by 12 channels to a total of 35 channels on 2 May 2012. New standard definition channels (SD) will also be added. The basic package will gain the HD versions of public German language channels 3sat, Phoenix, KI.KA, BR, NDR, SWR, WDR, ZDFinfo, ZDFkultur and ZDFneo, as well as MTV Italia and La 7d from Italy. In standard definition, Austrian youth and music channel gotv and new German entertainment channel RTL Nitro will join the portfolio. The pay-TV line-up will be extended through German documentary channel Spiegel TV Wissen which Swisscom TV will carry exclusively in Switzerland both in standard and high definition, and Animax, Sony Pictures Television's channel focusing on Japanese animated series (animes), popular culture and youth-oriented lifestyle programming. Both channels will be added in SD resolution to German language subscription package Sprachpaket Deutsch+, while Spiegel TV Wissen HD will form part of HD-Paket Deutsch.
