The Twitter account of Venezuelan Acting President Nicolas Maduro was hacked minutes before the polling stations closed, his campaign leader said on Sunday. The twitter account of the ruling United Socialist Party's (PSUV) candidate @NicolasMaduro was filled with vulgar messages, in which @lulzsecperu claimed responsibility for the attack and denounced the elections as a fraud.Maduro's campaign chief Jorge Rodriguez said the attack was launched from Bogota without giving details."All these tactics express nothing but desperation of those who have no votes and desperation of those who do not believe in democracy," he said. The attack came shortly before 6:00 p.m. local time (2230 GMT) when polling stations were closed for Sunday's elections. The accounts of National Assembly President Diosdado Cabello, Aragua State Governor Tarek El Aissami and the PSUV party were also hacked, said Rodriguez, noting that "nothing is going to change the voice of the Venezuelan people."
