Offensives against al-Azhar due to great role

Former Egyptian Assistant Foreign Minister Mostafa el-Fiqi on Saturday said that offensives against Al-Azhar confirm its great role as the largest Sunni center in the world.
In a seminar, held at Al-Azhar under the rubric "From Atheism and blasphemy to Violence and Terrorism), Fiqi hailed as "moderate" the methodology of Al-Azhar.
The analyst said that classes of Muslims now support those who distort the image of Islam, pointing that extremism and terrorism as well as atheism are against the teachings of Islam.
