2 women commit suicide in Oman

An Indian woman, from the state of Tamil Nadu, committed suicide here on Friday. The body of Sathya Priya, 26, was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her flat in Muttrah. She had come to Oman about four months ago to join her husband following their marriage two months earlier.  Her body was found hanging from the ceiling fan in the drawing room of their house by her husband when he woke in the morning.   The Police are investigating the case. In a similar incident late last month, another Indian woman, Deepa Anil, had committed suicide in her house in Hamriya in Ruwi.  Her body was found hanging from the ceiling by her husband Anil when he returned home from church. Deepa, 37, was working as a nurse at the Royal Hospital here.       Police have arrested two men for stealing manhole covers in the wilayat of Baushar in the Muscat governorate.  A vehicle loaded with stolen manhole covers was seized. Meanwhile, an African woman was detained on charges of stealing a laptop from a shop in Ruwi.  Police said she had confessed to the charges, admitting that she hid the laptop under her dress before leaving the shop.
