
A Taiwan woman who had been held hostage for ransom in the Philippines for over a month returned to Taiwan Saturday afternoon after being rescued. Chang An-wei, 58-year-old, was abducted by Philippine gunmen on Nov. 15 while on vacation on a resort island of the country. Hsu Li-min, the man who traveled with her, was shot dead during the attack. Taiwan's relevant authorities since then have been working with the Philippine side to rescue Chang. Chang was rescued on Friday. According to Chang's family, she had not been roughed up during abduction and the kidnappers demanded ransom only. Chang is now undergoing medical checkups, and no abnormalities have been found till now.
