The Arab League called on its member states Thursday to continue the efforts relating to women empowerment economically, socially and politically. In a statement marking the International Women's Day, the League reminded its members of the results of the First Arab Economic, Social and Development Summit, held in Kuwait in 2009, and the second summit, held in Sharm El-Sheikh in 2011. During the two summits, the Arab leaders highlighted women vital role in social and economic development and urged promoting gender equality and combating women's illiteracy, poverty and unemployment. The League hailed the women's impressive successes and achievements made by Arab women, calling for helping women to exchange experience in face of different challenges.
