A Golden, Colo, judge Tuesday sentenced Austin Sigg to life imprisonment for the kidnapping and killing of Jessica Ridgeway, 10. Jefferson County District Chief Court Judge Stephen Munsinger imposed a sentence that ensures Sigg, 18, will never leave prison, the Denver Post reported Tuesday. Because Sigg was 17 at the time of the crime, he could not receive a sentence of life in prison without parole, but prosecutors and the victim's family asked Munsinger to order Sigg to serve consecutive sentences, meaning he will never be released, the newspaper said. Sigg pleaded guilty in October to 15 counts, including kidnapping, first-degree murder and sexual assault of a child, as well as charges stemming from an attack on a female jogger in 2012. During a two-day sentencing hearing that concluded with the life imprisonment ruling, members of Jessica's family spoke emotionally of the loss they have suffered since her death, causing Sigg, normally stoic and unemotional in court, to weep openly, the newspaper said.
