
Al Azhar Grand Imam Ahmed el Tayyeb asserted his full support of women's role in preaching and researching fields.
This came during a meeting with a delegation of female professors and researchers specialized in the Islamic studies on Thursday.
He added that he is willing to send preaching convoys that target women in order to correct the wrong misconceptions as well as face extremism ideas.
He also pointed out that a committee was formed to prepare for an international conference under the title "The Muslim Woman and Current Challenges.. Azhar's Vision."
He added that a new TV channel affiliated to Azhar will be launched within the coming few months in order to show the moderate teachings of Islam, adding that a number of female professors and researchers are expected to work with the new TV station.
