
Shura Council Second Deputy Chairman, Dr. Bahiya Mohammad Al-Jishi, stressed the need to support the advancement of Arab women by legislative and executive branches, and to develop an Arab agreement on the protection of women's rights.
This came during Al-Jishi's participation in the meeting of the Arab Parliament Special Committee to formulate a draft document for Arab women's rights that was held in Cairo, Egypt.
Al-Jishi hailed the efforts of the Supreme Council for Women, led by HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, wife of HM the King also President of the Supreme Council for Women, in adopting a comprehensive national strategy for the advancement and empowerment of Bahraini women in all fields. She noted Bahrain's achievements attained in this regard, among of them the participation of women in legislative branch through elections and the formation of equal opportunities units at all ministries and government institutions, which ensures providing equal competitive opportunities between men and women.
