After the success of the Dubai Government's award winning ‘Your Weight in Gold’ initiative, the civic body this year has launched a wider campaign for families and individuals under the slogan, ‘Your Child In Gold’.
Having launched the initiative, in collaboration with Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, DMCC, Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group, DGJG and GOLD.ae, Hussain Nasser Lootah, Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said that this year DM is launching the same initiative as last year but with a small change in its concept and name, which is now ‘Your Child In Gold’, with the aim of spreading awareness of the necessity of adopting a healthy life style among all members of a family by practicing regular physical exercises to stay fit.
Senior officials of Dubai Municipality, Ahmed bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of DMCC and officials from DGJG and GOLD.ae were present on the occasion representing the sponsors.
"This year we have given priority to families as they will get double rewards than individual participants when they join in with their family members. Each family is allowed to participate with two of their children below 13 years old," Lootah explained.
The minimum weight reduction is 2kg for all participants to be eligible for rewards. Each individual participant will get one gram of gold per kilo reduced while families will get 2 grams for each kilo reduced. The first prize will be given for the individual who reduces the most out of his or her weight in accordance with the terms and conditions.
Ahmed Bin Sulayem said, "DMCC is proud to take part in the ‘Your Child in Gold' campaign with Dubai Municipality for the second year running." Registration will start on 15th July and will continue until 24th July from 9.00 p.m. to 12 a.m. on a daily basis in five sites: Al Mamzar jogging track, Al Khawaneej jogging track Gate No.3 , Safa Park Gate No.2, Zabeel Park Gate No.3 and Al Barsha Park main entrance.
