The General Women's Union (GWU) under chair of H. H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and Chairwoman of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood has lauded the instructions of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on preparing special federal law on protection of children in the UAE to ensure stable future for them Earlier the Department of Research and Development at the GWU had prepared the study on "Repetitive Violence Cases against Children". The study calls for enacting laws that preserves the rights of children and ensures the legal parental responsibility towards them. It resolves a number of recommendations to upgrade and streamline the national efforts regarding the child protection. The recommendations, include among others, the inclusion of children themselves in setting programmes and activities, launch of psychological and legal consultation programmes, and rehabilitation and incorporation of children with special needs.
