The newly appointed South Korean ambassador to Japan on Thursday called for Japanese efforts to solve the two countries' diplomatic spat over the Japanese imperial army's sexual enslavement of Korean women.
The call by Yoo Heung-soo, the incoming envoy to Japan, comes as the two neighbors are dealing with one of the worst bilateral diplomatic feuds since Prime Minister Shinzo Abe returned to power in 2012 in Japan.
