First lady Michelle Obama is to deliver commencement addresses at three U.S. universities this spring, White House officials said Wednesday. Obama will speak May 11 at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va., "where she was inspired by the resilience of the student body and community coming together to support each other during difficult times," a statement released by the White House said. Virginia Tech was the site of the 2007 shooting spree that left 33 people, including the gunman, dead and 25 others wounded. The next day she'll address the graduating seniors at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, an historically black school. "The president and first lady both have recognized the important contributions of [historically black colleges and universities] across the country and have delivered commencement addresses to highlight their successes," the statement said. Obama will travel June 17 to Oregon State University in Corvallis, where her brother, Craig Robinson, is head coach for the men's basketball team. OSU researchers have worked to identify factors leading to childhood obesity, a cause Obama has focused on as first lady.
