
The Ministry of Interior opened officially on Tuesday a center for teaching female prison inmates in the State Central Prison the tenets of Islam including memorizing the Holy Qur'an, among other religious instruction aimed at reforming them for a better life, said a ministry official.
The center has been donated to the department of correctional services at the ministry by the family of the late Mubarak Abdulaziz Al-Hasawi, said the department's director Maj.General Ibrahim Al-Eissa in a speech at the opening of the center ceremony.
He made note of the fact that opening of the center coincided with the ongoing celebration of the GCC Inmates Week in Kuwait.
Both undersecretary of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Dr. Adel Al-Falah and a representative of the donor, Abdulaziz Al-Hasawi, praised highly the ministry of Interior's efforts at reforming prison inmates and prepping them to reintegrate into society equipped with tools that would help them ease into their new lives.
