Saudi Arabia has launched the first voluntary relief team to assist in emergency and disaster risk management, and participate in national events and festivals. Named “Speed Response,” with the motto “Helping Community is a National Duty,” the team consists of 100 Saudi women. The inauguration of the team was announced yesterday by Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Social Committee for Women and Children, under the directives of the wife of Prince Faisal bin Abdullah, Princess Fahdah Al-Adhl, who is chairperson of the committee at her pavilion site in the ongoing 28th Janadriyah National Heritage festival. Deputy Chairperson of the committee, Huda Al-Ruwaishid, said the team is one of the strategic programs of the committee to support and help the community. She said the team includes women and girls of all ages, educational levels, and from all segments of society. Source: Arab News
