The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bahrain Woman's Union (BWU) to activate a new working phase, which consolidates the principle of partnership between SCW and BWU and enhance means of cooperation and coordination.
The MoU was signed between SCW's Secretary-General Hala Al Ansari and Zainab Al Najim from BWU.
Al Ansari said that the MoU came to activate the principles of Bahrain National charter and the directives of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women.
She added that this MoU lays the foundation for a new stage of joint action to support an equal partnership for women in building a competitive sustainable society, stressing in this regard the role played by civil society organisations in the implementation of the national plan for the advancement of Bahraini women.
The MoU affirmed the cooperation between SCW and BWU in various sectors in order to advance and empower the Bahraini woman.
It also emphasised supporting women and activating the joint vision regarding the legislation for equal opportunities, and unify positions on legislation proposed by the legislative authority in order to achieve justice for Bahraini women.
They agreed to form a joint committee so as to coordinate and follow up with the terms of the MoU.
