Chairperson of the Egyptian National Council for Women Mervat el Talawi asserted that a real democracy cannot be achieved without women's participation.
Talawi's remarks came during her participation in Expo Milan 2015 in Italy.
Talawi asserted the importance to pay attention to the agricultural sector as it is the only way to eradicate poverty.
Talawi also tackled 2014 Constitution which included more than 20 items supporting Egyptian women and also included items on the disabled, Christians and expatriates.
Talawi compared this constitution to 2012 one which was issued during the rule of the Muslim Brotherhood.
She said that the Muslim Brotherhood tried during their rule to change several laws such as incriminating female genital mutilation, early marriage, decreasing age of children custody and annulling women-voluntary divorce law.
