
National Union of Algerian Women (UNFA), meeting the principal private secretary to the presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia, as part of the consultations about the constitutional revision project, suggested Tuesday the creation of a national council for human rights.
The UNFA also proposed the creation of an academy for national experts, the organization's secretary general, Nouria Hafsi, said following the meeting with Ahmed Ouyahia.
The UNFA made other proposals, like the establishment of a semi-presidential system, the extension of prerogatives for the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament) in order to have a "more efficient role on the political scene," he added.
Equality of opportunities for key positions, constitutionalizing the National Economic and Social Council (CNES) and mass organizations were also underlined during the meeting, UNFA's secretary general added.
