New Jersey officials have filed child endangerment charges against a woman who took her 5-year-old daughter to a tanning salon. The Essex County Prosecutor's office said Patricia Krentcil, 44, of Nutley, N.J. was arrested after the child showed up at school with burns, The (Newark, N.J.) Star-Ledger reported Wednesday. State law prohibits children under the age of 14 from using tanning salons. Staff members at the tanning salon told police said they did not see the 5-year-old in the booth. The girl has been placed in the custody of her father. Krentcil posted $25,000 bail. A spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said an investigation of the incident is continuing. Krentcil said on NBC's "Today" she took her daughter to the salon, but did not put her in a booth.
