An 80-year-old Wisconsin woman safely landed a twin-engine plane after her husband, who was piloting the aircraft, collapsed, police said. The woman took control of the Cessna around 5:06 p.m. Monday afternoon near Sturgeon Bay, Wis., after her 81-year-old husband fell unconscious, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The Door County Sheriff's Office said the woman contacted the Door County Cherry Land Airport, which quickly dispatched another aircraft to fly next to her and the pilot began to teach her how to fly the plane. An hour later, she radioed to say she needed to land immediately because the plane's right engine had lost power and the fuel and run out. She successfully landed the aircraft with the help of the pilot in the nearby plane, the newspaper said. The county sheriff's dispatcher said the woman was slightly injured in the landing and taken to a hospital in Sturgeon Bay. Her husband was pronounced dead at the hospital.
