Can't leave the house without applying that extra layer of lipstick? You are not alone. More than two thirds of women say they would be too scared to face the world without a full face of make-up. Most of those questioned for a poll admitted that doing their daily commute barefaced was more stressful than public speaking, a job interview or even a first date. The survey of 3,000 women found 70 per cent would not want to be seen by their boss without having their hair and make-up done. At the same time, 91 per cent would cancel a first date rather than turn up barefaced, while one in six would not even answer the front door unless in full make-up. Pyschologist Celia Bibby said of the poll, conducted for the Vitality Show: "Many women feel there is a stigma associated with not wearing make-up and their employers may discriminate against them if they are not ‘dolled up'."
