According to Bloomberg, Amazon is testing in-app purchases for mobile apps used with its Kindle Fire tablet device. In-app purchases are something that both Google and Apple already offer in their respective app stores. Quoting Skimble Inc, a company that is supposedly trialing the new in-app purchase program with Amazon, Bloomberg says that Amazon's in-app purchase program is nearly identical to the ones offered by Google and Apple. Users will be able to buy add-ons and subscriptions within apps themselves, without having to go out to the Amazon Appstore to do so. Amazon will then take a 30 percent cut from the sales made in-apps, with the rest of the proceeds going to the developer of the app. Amazon did not comment on the plan for in-app purchases, and Skimble, which offers physical fitness programs through the Amazon Appstore, said that the program is in the very early stages of deployment.
